16th February 2011 – interview by telephone from the 127bis detention centre

Listen to the interview (FR) :

- Hello

Hello

- Can you tell us what happened yesterday?

They caught me and hit me, four people caught and hit me. They told me: “So that you never come back to Belgium!” Before, I used to live in Italy…

- You lived in Italy?

Yes, I lived in Italy. I had Italian papers that they took away from me. When they took them, I came to live here in Belgium with my brother. After I came to Belgium I claimed asylum and they told me: “You have your fingerprints in Italy so we are going to send you back there!” Now, I’m locked up and they told me that I have a flight back to Italy on the 23rd of this month.

- Is it today?

No, I have a flight for Italy on the 23rd so I still have 8 days to go and I don’t want to leave for Italy.

- And now, where are you?

Now, I’m in jail. They locked me up in a jail next to the airport (the detention centre).

- And they haven’t come yet to deport you?

They caught me and the four people hit me so that I would not come back to Belgium. They said: “So that you never come back to Belgium…”I have been in Belgium since 2010, they caught me and held me down, they handcuffed me and the four policemen injured my hands and legs and I have head injuries…

- Have you seen a doctor?

Yes, I went to the doctor.

- Do you have the doctor’s certificates?

Yes, I have the papers that the doctor gave me…they caught me and really beat me up. They are racists here!
